The Tiberias regional fire and rescue station conducted an exercise simulating a Hezbollah missile hitting the local Sapir fuel tank, including initial responses, tracing leaking fuel, and using available resources to contain the damage.

This exercise is just one of a number of efforts by Israeli government efforts to prepare for a possible broader war in the north between the IDF and Hezbollah, including a massive barrage of unguided and guided missiles and rockets.

The Transportation Ministry also conducted an exercise today (Tuesday) simulating the rescue of a burning commercial ship and its personnel far from land.

The exercise, which took place near Haifa, fire and rescue services worked with the different port authorities to coordinate a rescue of ship personnel, while simulating a fire.

Though the release did not explicitly mention how such a scenario could come about, these efforts are likely aimed at reducing damage caused, in the event of war in Lebanon by Hezbollah precise missiles to shipping towards Israeli ports.
