Israel-Gaza War, Hostage Deal

Hostage deal on the verge of collapse? Hamas labels it a "Zionist document"

Israel and Hamas are eager to reach an agreement before the month of Ramadan, but it appears on the way out. Hamas has labeled it as a "Zionist document," while Biden hopes a deal can still be struck.

Israel and Hamas remain interested in reaching a hostage deal by the beginning of the month of Ramadan (starting in March) but due to the demands made by each side, it seems that such an agreement may be on the verge of a total collapse.

After the return of the Israeli delegation to negotiations in Qatar, Hamas representatives defined the American cease-fire proposal formulated in Paris as a "Zionist document," it was reported this morning (Wednesday) on the Israeli Army Radio.

Hamas protested that, "Israel has not given its consent to a full return of civilians to northern Gaza, there is no reference to a permanent ceasefire, and the number of prisoners offered is low.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Biden told reporters in New York that he hopes a ceasefire will be reached by next Monday. In response to his statement, the spokesman for the Qatari foreign ministry clarified that a deal was still a distant reality. "There is no breakthrough that can be announced regarding an agreement with Hamas," he stated.
