The State Attorney's Office informed the court today (Wednesday) that the petition of the "Lavi" organization was accepted and an indictment will be filed against former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Ekrima Sa'id Sabri, for two offenses of inciting to terror.

Sabri served as the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem between October, 1994 and July 1, 2006, and was appointed by Yasser Arafat. He supported suicide attacks against Israeli citizens, and in 2001, met Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and was subsequently questioned by police.

About two years ago he participated in a conference on the occasion of "Iranian Jerusalem Day" together with Nasrallah, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Islamic Jihad leaders, and others.

"Ekrima Sabri has followed in the footsteps of Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini, instigating the murder of Jews non-stop. The time has come for justice to be served. We thank the Israel Police and State Attorney's Office for their decision to prosecute the Jew-hater Sabri..," stated the Lavi organization following the announcement.
