The Huffington Post news site reported that despite denials from the White House, senior officials said that "the US has been investigating Israeli actions (in Gaza) for months."
According to the report, although since the beginning of the war in Gaza, the White House has made it clear that it does not accept accusations that Israel is violating international law and that no investigations are being carried out on the matter, the US State Department is investigating Israeli actions in which there is a "potential for a violation of international law" according to sources.
The report claims that a number of investigations are taking place at the same time despite White House spokesman John Kirby's statement that no queries are being carried by the White House.
According to the report, the White House is investigating Israeli actions with regards to extrajudicial military intervention, as well as American regulations that prohibit "the use of American weapons to harm civilians."
If the report turns out to be reliable, it will be another step in President Biden's withdrawal from the unqualified support he expressed for Israel as well as the Jewish State's goals in the war in Gaza at the beginning of the campaign.
