Central Command Commander Maj.-Gen. Yehudah Fuchs met today (Sunday) with the head of the Binyamin Regional Council, as well as other local leaders and security officers. During the meeting, a situational assessment was conducted of the Binyamin region, as well as a discussion of how to strengthen the defense and security components within settlements in the short and long terms.
A source present at the meeting noted that the sides spoke of the widescale offensive effort of Central Command. He also said that all the heads of councils and local leaders gave their support to the Command and spoke of building up a defensive plan for the settlements in cooperation with the army. The subject of Palestinian workers also came up for discussion.
Last week, during a meeting with Fuchs, Gallant addressed the question of the PA money transfer. “In everything regarding Gaza, there is a dual layer, one inspiring, the other enraging. Against this background, there are things we need to arrange and I hope the government will accept the position of the IDF and the Shin Bet in everything regarding the workers and the money. I say this in the clearest sense: a strong Palestinian Authority is an Israeli security interest, nothing less.”
Gallant stressed that security forces will be granted all the needed resources to eliminate terrorism in Judea and Samaria. “The activity taking place in the region is very impressive, and the results speak for themselves. This attests to two things: the amount of energy in the field aimed at harming and second, the high quality activity of the IDF and the Shin Bet.”
