Air force forces attacked Al Azhar University in the south of Gaza City this evening (Thursday), when documentation published online showed that the building was completely blown up. The building itself was badly damaged in previous bombings - and has now been completely obliterated.

The explosion of the university is the latest in a series of attacks aimed at symbols of Hamas rule in Gaza, after they were occupied by IDF forces. Among other things, last week it was reported that the IDF blew up the building of the Supreme Court of Gaza, which was occupied by the 13th Battalion of the Givati Brigade that waved the flag over it.
In November it was announced that the fighters of the 13th Battalion from the Golani Brigade - the battalion that took the heaviest blow in the Hamas surprise attack - stormed the Hamas parliament building and captured it. Their picture with Israeli and Golani flags inside the Palestinian legislature became one of the symbols of the war, and two days later it was decided to blow up the building.
