The Jerusalem District Court decided today (Tuesday) to dismantle the Lajnat Zakat al-Quds al-Markaziyah (Registered Association) for actions in support of terrorism.
The request to dismantle the association was submitted this October by the Associations Registrar, via the enforcement and control unit within the Justice Ministry’s Corporations Authority. It was adopted by the Jerusalem District Court, which decided to dismantle the association.
The decision came in the wake of an indictment filed against the association and its founders which revealed that it was established by Hamas activists, which distributed a significant part of its donations to needy families - including families of Hamas activists and those of slain terrorists.
The association was also charged with transferring money to orphans unaffiliated with Hamas in order to increase public support and admiration for the organization, embed its ideas, and enlist additional activists and promote the goals of Hamas in its fight against the State of Israel and its sovereignty. The association’s property was thus used for terror purposes to the tune of tens of millions of shekels.
