New Poll: Lapid at Nadir, Bennet Surprises

A poll containing a scenario with Bennet leading a new party reveals a surprising picture.

A new poll published on the Maariv website looked at the breakdown of political strength during wartime. Another scenario tested was the return of former Prime Minister Naftali Bennet at the head of a new rightwing party.

According to the poll, Benny Gantz’s State Camp party gets 39 seats (36 in the previous poll), Likud led by Binyamin Netanyahu gets 18 (19), Yesh Atid led by Yair Lapid – 15 (17).

Yisrael Beiteinu led by Avigdor Liberman – 8 (8), Shas led by Aryeh Deri – 8 (8), United Torah Judaism led by Yitzhak Goldknopf – 7 (7), Meretz – 6 (6), Hadash-Ta’al led by Ayman Odeh and Achmad Tibi – 5 (5).

Otzmah Yehudit led by Itamar Ben Gvir – 5 (4), Ra’am led by Mansour Abbas – 5(5), Religious Zionism Party led by Betzalel Smotrich – 4 (5). Labor Party (1.3%) and Balad (1%) continue to be far from the 3.5% electoral threshold.

Based on a breakdown of blocs: coalition – 42 seats, opposition – 78 seats.

In a scenario in which Bennet runs at the head of a new party: State Camp – 28 seats, a rightwing liberal party led by Naftali Bennet – 17, Likud led by Binyamin Netanyahu – 17, Yesh Atid led by Yair Lapid – 13.

United Torah Judaism led by Yitzhak Goldknopf and Moshe Gafni – 7, Shas led by Aryeh Deri – 7, Meretz – 6, Oztmah Yehudit led by Itamar Ben Gvir – 5, Hadah-Ta’al led by Ayman Odeh and Achmad Tibi – 5.

Responding to the question: who of the two, Binyamin Netanyahu or Benny Gantz, is more fit to be Prime Minister of Israel? The answers were: Netanyahu – 27%, Gantz – 49%, 24% don’t know.

Among Likud voters: Netanyahu – 60%, Gantz – 20%, don’t know – 20%.

Among State Camp voters: Netanyahu – 0% Gantz – 100%. Among Yesh Atid voters: Netanyahu – 1%, Gantz – 94%, don’t know – 5%.

The poll was conducted between November 1 and 2. 515 people, serving as a representative sample of the adult population of the State of Israel, Jews and Arabs, responded. The maximal margin of error for the poll is 4.3%.
