It was allowed to be published that last month the detectives of the Jerusalem Police Department and the Border Police undercover agents, at the direction of the Shin Bet, arrested two terrorists, in their twenties, residents of Shuafat refugee camp, on the suspicion that they were planning to carry out a combined attack after contacting a terrorist organization.

From the investigation by the Shin Bet and the Jerusalem Central Unit, it appears that the two terrorists made contact with operatives of a terrorist organization in Judea and Samaria and planned with their help to carry out a combined attack of shooting, withdrawing our forces and detonating explosive charges in an apartment in the Shoafat refugee camp. For this purpose, the terrorists planned to purchase weapons, and had already purchased various materials and components for the preparation of explosive devices in the apartment where they were staying.

About three weeks ago, the detectives of the Jerusalem District Police, the Jerusalem District Saboteurs and the soldiers of the Jerusalem Border Police, together with Shin Bet personnel, raided the apartment in the Shoafat refugee camp. In the search conducted by the forces in the apartment, various chemical substances, receptacles, operating instructions for the preparation of charges, and various components were found which, according to the suspicion, were expected to soon become explosive charges for the purpose of carrying out the combined attack.

The arrest of the terrorists was extended from time to time by the court. With the conclusion of the investigation at the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office and the Shin Bet, last night a prosecutor's statement was submitted against them and their detention was extended again by five days until November 5. In the coming days, the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office is expected to file an indictment against them. The Israel Police and the Shin Bet will continue to act with determination and with all means and strength against terrorists, terrorist operatives and any attempt to harm civilians or the security forces.
