Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog congratulated the rescue of soldier Ori Megidish, taken captive by Hamas on the black Shabbat of October 7 from the Nachal Oz base.
A statement issued by Herzog read: “I was excited to see the soldier Ori Megidish return home to her loving family, after a daring operation of the IDF and the Shin Bet.”
He said that “our security forces are working round the clock in Gaza, in the north, in Judea and Samaria, and everywhere – on land and air and sea – with endless dedication, risking their lives, with a sense of mission and a love of nation and state. We support you, back you, and trust you.”
Opposition Leader Yair Lapid also issued a statement on the freeing of the hostage: “I send great congratulations to the security forces. Your commitment and professionalism brought great light tonight to all of us. My heart is with the families of the missing who still look forward to their loved ones in Hamas captivity. We pray with you for their return.”
Infrastructure and Energy Minister Yisrael Katz joined in on the congratulations: “Great happiness to be told of the release of soldier Ori Megidish from the captivity of the murderous organization Hamas. I want to support and congratulate the soldiers and commanders of the IDF and the Shin Bet on the daring action. We will continue to do everything with all creativity and all daring to return all the captives.”
Agricultural Minister Avi Dichter congratulated the return of the hostage and thanked the security forces: “’Any who save one life of Israel it is as though they saved a world and its entirety.’ Ori, we are happy you’re home, all the glory to the IDF, the Shin Bet, and all the security forces for a successful action in enemy territory. The State of Israel will do everything to bring the rest of its hostages and missing home.”
