A senior academic at London Metropolitan University, Dr. Angie Cucchi, sparked controversy after posting a glowing eulogy of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, following his assassination by the IDF last week.

Dr. Cucchi, a prominent psychology lecturer, shared an image on Instagram featuring Sinwar wrapped in a Hamas scarf, making a peace sign. Above the image, Arabic text read: "The souls of the martyrs are in heaven, and they are alive and being looked after by their God," glorifying Sinwar, a key figure behind Hamas’s violent actions.

London Metropolitan University responded to the incident, stating that it is "taking this matter very seriously." Cucchi holds a senior position at the university, leading its doctorate program in counseling psychology, and also works as a psychologist for the NHS.

She has previously taught at St Mary’s University and Regent’s University, and presented research in countries such as Malaysia and Kuwait.
