Health Tips and Tricks

Feeling tired this winter? You will be surprised to read why

Winter is a tricky time: All we want to do is cuddle up in bed, when we really need to be getting out, staying active, seeing people – and drinking water.

That winter fatigue might not be just the cold weather - health experts say many of us simply forget to drink enough water when temperatures drop.

"We're losing more fluids than we realize," says one health specialist. "Between dry indoor heating and cold outdoor air, our bodies are quietly getting dehydrated."

The effects go beyond just feeling tired. Winter dehydration can dull your concentration and even weaken your immune system - not ideal during cold and flu season. Plus, that dry winter skin? It gets worse when you're not drinking enough.

Quick fixes:

  • Make it warm: Add lemon, mint, or ginger to warm water
  • Keep track: Have a water bottle nearby
  • Get cozy: Soups and warm drinks count too

You might not feel thirsty, but next time you reach for that hot coffee, grab a glass of water too: Your body will thank you.
