Two months before the original deadline, the international tech company NVIDIA completed the first stage in building the Israeli supercomputer Israel-1, and this morning (Tuesday) the company declared it operational. The computer will allow Israeli researchers and entrepreneurs to develop artificial intelligence technologies which will generate a global revolution, according to NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang.

The construction of the first stage of Israel-1 took just 20 weeks, and will later be one of the fastest supercomputers in the world for artificial intelligence.

A statement put out by Huang stated that “Israel is home to world-leading AI researchers and developers creating applications for the next wave of AI. With NVIDIA’s Israel-1 AI supercomputer, a broad range of innovative companies in Israel will create AI that can transform the productivity and business models of enterprises around the world.”

Gilad Sheiner, Senior NVIDIA Vice President for Supercomputing and Communications, added: “After being built with exceptional speed, Israel-1 is ready here to empower our talented research and engineering groups with the power of artificial intelligence. This amazing system will serve as an engine behind products and technologies expected to deal with some of the biggest challenges in the world.”
