The IDF spokesman said yesterday (Wednesday) that the new version of the Home Front Command application for iPhone devices is now available in the Apple App Store. In their words, they called on the public to update the application as soon as possible.

In a statement, the IDF warned that "without performing the update, it will not be possible to receive real-time alerts on the phone. The update includes upgrades to the application's infrastructure. As necessary, we will continue to make regular improvements and updates to the application."

It was also clarified that the upgrade is relevant to iPhone devices only. Android users are not required to update.

As mentioned, the Home Front Command announced last night an update to the command's well-known alert application for the iPhone, which is expected to provide a significant upgrade to the iPhone app, for the accuracy it offers, the speed of the alert and the reliability of use. The army emphasized that there is no connection between changes in the applications and rumors that have spread in recent weeks about cyber incidents or false alarms as a result of external damage to the systems, and clarified that no such events or attacks of this type have occurred against the army or its technological tools.

Since the beginning of the war, the command application has turned from a tool that is frequently used by several hundreds of thousands of citizens, to an application that is used by millions of citizens and other entities. As a result, in recent weeks the army has been developing a version update that will allow dealing with such usage numbers. This version update was made specifically for iPhone users because complaints were received from users and anomalies and inaccuracies were detected in a limited number of alerts sent.
