Seventh Medal for Israel: Artistic Gymnasts Win Silver

Israel's rhythmic gymnastics team has made history by winning the silver medal in the all-around competition. The five gymnasts outperformed the Italian team and only fell short to the Chinese. This brings Israel's medal count to seven.

The Paris 2024 Olympics continue to break records, with Israel's seventh medal coming once again in silver. The rhythmic gymnastics team was crowned the world runner-up in the all-around, just one point behind the gold-winning Chinese and half a point ahead of the Italian team in third place.

President Isaac Herzog congratulated: "The five amazing members of the Israeli rhythmic gymnastics team—Diana, Ofir, Romi, Shani, and Hadar—you bring us immense pride! With hard work, dedication, and professionalism, you have made history today and delighted an entire nation! Great honour to the professional team led by Ayelet Zussman; coaches Ella Smolov and Natasha Stepanova, and team manager Natasha Asmolov." This is Israel's first medal in artistic events at the current Olympics and the second overall after Linoy Ashram's gold in Tokyo 2021.

Israel's medal tally now stands at seven: one gold, one bronze, and five silvers. It is noteworthy that Israel had not won a silver medal in 32 years since the Barcelona Olympics, but in the past week, they have added five to their global tally. Tomorrow, Luna Chemutai will compete in the women's marathon, and on a good day, she might also contend for a medal. In cycling, Misha Yakovlev is still in the running.
