Anastasia Gorbenko (20), the Israeli swimmer and world medalist, clinched gold once again at the European Aquatics Championships in Belgrade. Ynet sources report, she achieved victory in the 400-meter individual medley with a time of 4:36.05 minutes on Wednesday, marking her third gold medal at the championship, following wins in two relay events. This triumph adds to Israel’s medal tally, making it their third in the championship after three days of competition.
Gorbenko, previously a silver medallist at the World Championships in Qatar this year, celebrated her first-ever European Championship medal in the 400-meter individual medley. Her past successes include gold in the 200-meter individual medley at the European Championships both in Budapest (2021) and Rome (2022).
Reflecting on her victory, Gorbenko shared, "It was an exhilarating swim; there was fierce competition, and I felt the pressure towards the end. I'm glad I could come out on top, and I believe there's still room for improvement in the coming months."
Gorbenko, widely regarded as Israel's greatest swimmer, now boasts nine Israeli records in 17 long-course events. Her dominance extends to the global stage in both the 200-meter and 400-meter individual medleys, solidifying her status as a formidable force in swimming.
