MK Ram Ben Barak said today (Tuesday) on 103fm that he supports the opinion of his party chairman Yair Lapid, to transfer control of Gaza to the PA: "All the talk about another Palestinian organization is disconnected from reality.
The PA can be strengthened, in my opinion, they are doing a good job in the West Bank, with all their problems. I would be happy if they would take the responsibility and make Gaza a better place."
We will recall that only this morning Barak expressed himself opposite to what he is proposing now, and in an article published this morning by Knesset members Danny Danon (Likud) and Ram Ben Barak (Yesh Atid), in the American newspaper Wall Street Journal, he proposed a new initiative that includes the voluntary evacuation of the residents of Gaza to other countries to take in an agreed number of refugees.
"Hamas has turned Gaza into the largest terrorist base in the world and the residents of the Gaza Strip have become a human shield and hostages, while using schools, UNRWA facilities, hospitals, mosques, kindergartens, and cemeteries as bases for launching missiles at Israel and as sites for establishing terrorist infrastructures.
International organizations can play a central role in the transfer of Gazans who wish to do so to countries that agree to receive them. Even a relatively small starting number, of 10,000 Gazans for each host country - will bring enormous relief to the suffering of the population, and improve the situation in Gaza.
There are 193 countries in the world, and most of them, at least according to their votes in the UN, support uncompromising support for the Palestinians, so it can be assumed that they will not be opposed to helping those Palestinians they have supported over the years. All that is needed is some countries that will respond to the request and accept the Gazans to help the population that will emigrate as well as the one that chooses to stay.
"This is not only a moral obligation but also an opportunity for the countries of the world to stand shoulder to shoulder and show compassion and commitment to a sustainable solution, which will help the stability of the entire Middle East," they concluded.
