The U.S. visits continue: Michael Kurilla, the Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), arrived in Israel this morning (Tuesday) for an official visit as part of a series of meetings regarding the war in the South. During the day, Kurilla is expected to meet with the Chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, and other senior figures in the security establishment.

Upon his arrival, Kurilla stated, "I am here to ensure that Israel will receive what it needs to defend itself, with a focus on efforts to prevent further escalation." According to the U.S. military's announcement, during his meetings, Kurilla "will work to understand Israel's defensive needs and emphasize American support efforts to prevent an expansion of hostilities and clarify the strong U.S. support for Israel."

As mentioned, Correa's visit to Israel is part of a series of visits by senior members of the U.S. government to Israel in the past week in order to support Israel in its war against Hamas. Last week, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin visited the country, and yesterday it was U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken who met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and he also participated in the Israeli cabinet meeting in Jerusalem.
