A Danger to National Security: The Mossad Supports Closing al-Jazeera

The Mossad claims the al-Jazeera channel endangers IDF troops by revealing assembly areas and engaging in incitement.

Kann reporter Avishai Greenzeig revealed this morning (Monday) that the Mossad supports the closing of the Qatar-based TV channel al-Jazeera, which also broadcasts from Israel.

The Mossad claims that the station harms IDF activity and endangers fighting forces, as reporters for the channel reveal the location of troop assembly areas in the south and other sensitive locations.

Most senior defense and government officials support the closing of the channel, including Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and the National Security Council. The Foreign Ministry, which once opposed closing down the channel, now supports doing so. The Shin Bet still has reservations, saying it’s difficult to demonstrate cases of criminal incitement on the channel, though they do not oppose closing down the channel itself.
