The New York Police announced last night (Monday) that Charlotte Sena, the 9-year-old girl who went missing in the past two days, has been located safe and sound. According to the authorities' statement, the police have arrested a suspect in connection with her disappearance.

Charlotte disappeared last Saturday during a family trip in the Moreau Lake area in northern New York State, and local law enforcement initiated extensive searches, expressing concerns that she may have been kidnapped. New York Governor Kathy Hochul confirmed in an interview with CNN that Charlotte's parents received a letter with a ransom demand for the child, with the suspect's fingerprints on it.

From a fingerprint perspective, it was revealed that they appeared in the police database in connection with a previous incident in which he was involved in 1999. Extensive forces arrived at the home of the 47-year-old suspect, who was arrested and taken in for questioning. Charlotte was found at the suspect's residence in good health and has safely returned home.

"Law enforcement authorities successfully reached the suspect's home, which was surrounded by helicopters and police officers who managed to bring Charlotte to a secure location. After a short while, she was already in the arms of her parents," said Hochul. "I thank the New York Police, the forest rangers, and all the partners who worked tirelessly to locate Charlotte and ensure her safe return home. The investigation is ongoing, and when there is additional confirmed information, it will be released."
