An extensive fire broke out today (Thursday) in the Be'eri Forest in the Gaza Strip, apparently following ignition from an incendiary balloon. KKL teams arrived at the scene and are working to extinguish the fire.
This is the second day in a row that fires have been reported in the Be'eri Forest in the Eshkol Regional Council, as yesterday also there were two fires in the forest following the explosion of incendiary balloons. Last night's fires occurred at the same time as the riots at the border fence in the Gaza Strip, when the rioters burned tires and even detonated two explosive devices in the territory of the Gaza Strip.
However, this morning it was decided to reopen the border at the Erez crossing and allow laborers to leave the Gaza Strip for the first time in about two weeks. In Gaza, they claimed that the violations of the order were stopped following the opening of the crossing, as were the other operations - including the launching of incendiary balloons.
