After the leader of the National Unity party, Benny Gantz, referred to the incident in which left-wing protesters 'blew up' the Yom Kippur prayer in Dizengoff Square and chose to blame Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for it, the Likud party issued a statement condemning Gantz's words.
"Gantz, who speaks highly of unity, encourages gratuitous hatred with his silence and refuses to condemn attackers of worshipers on the eve of Yom Kippur," the Likud statement read. "We demand from Gantz to fully condemn, without perhaps and without regret, the violence and provocations by left-wing activists on the eve of Yom Kippur."
The National Unity stated in response to the Likud party's announcement: "While Gantz is working to prevent the rift in the nation - Netanyahu is working to deepen it. The prime minister would do well if he acted responsibly and worked to calm the spirits instead of adding factions and divisiveness to the people of Israel and trying to derive political profit from such alarming images, On our holiest day, It's time for a different leadership."
Rioters 'blew up' the holiday prayer
As recalled, left-wing demonstrators and members of the Kaplan protest organizations 'blew up' Yom Kippur prayers throughout the city of Tel Aviv after the start of the fast. The protesters came to the prayers, and shouted "shame" but the worshipers passed and disrupted the prayers with noise and shouting.
