In the last hour, a fire was ignited in KKL's Kissufim forest near the fence of the settlement of Kissufim, apparently as a result of an incendiary balloon that was blown up from the Gaza Strip. In 2018, in exactly the same place, the first fire took place at the beginning of the Balloon Terror.
The Palestinians also announced that they blew up incendiary balloons and published photos of terrorist operatives blowing up balloons. In the meantime, about 5 acres in the forest were burned.
KKL and Israel Fire and Rescue Services teams are fighting on the spot to put out the fire. The traveling public is requested not to approach the place.
The last time incendiary balloons were released was in 2021 when three fires broke out simultaneously in Kibbutz Nir Am in the Shaar HaNegev Regional Council. Following the warning about the possibility of incendiary balloons, KKL and Israel Fire and Rescue Services teams began to increase firefighting teams. Several more fire engines were sent to the Gaza Strip during the weekend.
