The Crossing from Gaza is Closed

Because of the riots at the border fence: the crossing from Gaza is closed

The IDF's price tag for the riots on the border fence of the Gaza Strip is the closing of the crossings. Let us recall that the entry of workers from Gaza was stopped because of the Rosh Hashanah closure, and now it continues for at least one more day.

In a statement by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, it was announced: "The government's activities in the territories have informed of the postponement of the opening of the Erez crossing for the entry of Gazan laborers into Israel for an additional 24 hours. This decision was made following a security assessment and in accordance with the directives of the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff. The possibility of reopening will be reevaluated based on the security situation in the area."

In the past week, the riots by the Arabs at the border fence have returned, and they include burning tires, placing explosives, and in one case also shooting at IDF positions. On Wednesday, a terrorist explosive device exploded when it was placed, resulting in the death of six terrorists. During the holiday, a terrorist fired a gun into an IDF position - similar to the incident in which Amit Ben Yigal was killed about two years ago.

In response to the shooting, an IDF aircraft fired at a Hamas observation post in the northern Gaza Strip. One Hamas terrorist was slightly wounded.
