On your way to a rare meeting? The media in South Korea reported today (Monday) that North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un has left his closed country, and is probably now on his way to Russia - where he will meet with President Vladimir Putin.

According to the report on the YTN network, Kim apparently left Pyongyang on a special armored train, when he crossed the northeastern border of the country. According to estimates, the meeting between Kim and Putin will take place in the eastern Russian city of Vladivostok, with the two apparently discussing a possible arms deal between the countries.

However, at this stage, it is not known when the meeting between Putin and Kim will take place. While there have been conflicting reports in the Korean media that the meeting will take place tomorrow or Wednesday, in Russia they claim that Kim will arrive in Russia "in the coming days".

This is Kim's first visit outside of North Korea since 2019 when the North Korean leader also met with Putin in Vladivostok. The previous meeting of the two leaders was held against the background of the collapse of North Korea's talks with then-US President Donald Trump, who met with Kim for the first time in order to promote a deal to denuclearize the country.
