The Battle For The Mayorship

50 days to the elections: first candidate against Moshe Leon

The battle for the mayorship of Jerusalem begins - Yossi Havilio announced his candidacy for the mayorship: "After uniting all the state-liberal voices in the city, we are freeing up for the most important task"

About 50 days before the elections to the Jerusalem municipality, and after he succeeded in uniting behind him 4 conservative and liberal parties ('Saving Jerusalem', 'Yesh Atid', 'Democratic Jerusalem', 'Labor') and after the joining of the protest organizations and a new contract for the Jerusalem Union, he announced this morning, Chairman of the "Jerusalem Union" and Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, Adv. Yossi Havilio, that he will run for mayor.

"The moderate majority is required to rebuild the alliance of the founders and defenders of the State of Israel, in Jerusalem, the capital city. We have one last chance to turn the wheel from the extreme, poor, and non-Zionist abyss to which the city is marching," said Havilio.

He also added that "after uniting all the conservative-liberal voices in the city, we are freeing ourselves for the most important task: to fight for the future of Jerusalem, because it is impossible to sit back. We influenced and responsibly led the coalition in Jerusalem, but the most important thing for those who want to change the city is to call the conservatives and the liberal majority to go out and win. We must not sit back. The urban strategy of Israel's capital cannot be limited to emptying garbage from the bins. Jerusalem is on an economic and social crash course, and Leon's extreme and fanatical base does not allow him to change direction. Once the Titanic hits the iceberg, it no longer matters if the corridor is Clean. We will change this not only for Jerusalem but for the entire country."

Havilio also said that "in a coalition led by me, Avi Maoz will see Jerusalem through binoculars. We will protect our neighborhoods from distress and from deterioration and I will do what Smotrich, Goldknopf, and Deri do not allow Leon to do - I will shift the wheel from the poor, extreme, and non-Zionist direction that the city has Marching. We put our egos aside and established the "Jerusalem Union" to prevent the waste of Zionist and liberal votes, and to return the moderate and decent majority to the city council. But this is not enough. For 30 years, the mayors who are elected insist on basing their coalition on the local versions of Avi Maoz, Ben-Gvir, and Goldknopf. I pledge that after I am elected mayor - I will form a coalition that will be based first and foremost on the conservative and liberal factions."
