The words of the chairman of religious Zionism, Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, at the right-wing demonstration now: "Good evening Israel! Good evening the National Camp, good evening to everyone who cares about the Jewish and democratic future of the State of Israel!!!!".
"Look at each other," Smotrich continues and says, "Look at the beautiful, loving nation of Israel, serving in the army, practicing the Torah, fighting for the land, for its identity, ours. Am Yisrael Chai!"
The Minister of Finance addresses directly the President of the Supreme Court, Esther Hayut, and says: "I want to appeal from here to the person sitting in the chamber right here behind us, the President of the Supreme Court, Esther Hayut, even if you think that the amendments we are leading to reforming the judicial system are wrong in your eyes and should be done differently, To invalidate a basic law is an excess of authority and something that will harm Israeli democracy."
He further adds and says: "I urge you not to make a decision that will tear apart the people of Israel, that will tear apart families within Israeli society, that will tear apart the IDF. The responsibility is on you."
He points out that he also supports the words of Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana: "I would like, with your permission, to strengthen my friend Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana for the clear and correct things he said and should have been said. Especially laws that fall under the definition of basic laws."
Smotrich protests: "No one has the authority to cancel the people's laws! No one has the authority to cancel the people's basic laws! No one has the authority to cancel the people's vote! No one has the authority to cancel your vote! You voted right and you will get right! ".
