Survey: 68% blame Ben-Gvir for the lack of security

Israel Today and the New Guardian Organization conducted a survey revealing that the Israeli public feels a lack of security during the current government's tenure. 68% of those surveyed expressed disappointment in the Minister of National Security

About 68% are disappointed with the personal security situation and see the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, as responsible for the situation. This is according to a survey conducted by Israel Today and the New Guardian Organization, which was published on the occasion of the "Personal Security and National Security Conference in Israel" held this morning.

The comprehensive survey addresses pressing issues, and it also found that twice as many people support the establishment of a National Guard under the Border Police rather than under the Minister of National Security.

Regarding the personal security perception of Israeli citizens since the beginning of 2023, 16% of those surveyed responded that it has weakened significantly, compared to 8% who said so in 2022. 39% feel that it has weakened, compared to 33% in 2022. Unchanged: 37% compared to 53% in 2022. Only 8% say that the perception has strengthened, compared to 6% in 2022.

52% of the Jewish sector stated that they will not choose a route that passes through Arab settlements in the Negev and the Galilee, while 33% of the Arab sector said they will not allow their children to go out alone in the evening, compared to 21% in the Jewish sector. When asked if they would go alone in the dark outside their residence, 18% in the Jewish sector and 44% in the Arab sector answered negatively. 32% of the Jewish sector and 31% of the Arab sector responded that they would not refrain from any action.

Disappointment from the security organizations and the Minister of National Security

The survey also asked about trust in security organizations regarding their handling and care for personal security. Respondents answered as follows:

- Police: Jews: 25%, Arabs: 18%

- IDF: Jews: 81%, Arabs: 26%

- Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency): Jews: 75%, Arabs: 22%

- Border Police (MAGAV): Jews: 61%, Arabs: 11%

The survey also examined the public's satisfaction with the government's treatment of the following issues:

- Violence against women: Not satisfied: 76%, Satisfied: 9%, No opinion: 15%

- Road violence: Not satisfied: 81%, Satisfied: 5%, No opinion: 14%

- Illegal weapons: Not satisfied: 80%, Satisfied: 8%, No opinion: 12%

- Land seizures: Not satisfied: 78%, Satisfied: 5%, No opinion: 17%

- Agricultural crime: Not satisfied: 79%, Satisfied: 3%, No opinion: 18%

- "Protection": Not satisfied: 80%, Satisfied: 4%, No opinion: 16%

Among other things, respondents were asked about their expectations from the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir. 68% of those surveyed said that he did not meet their expectations, 12% believed that he did, and 20% had no opinion on the matter. A special survey was conducted among farmers affected by agricultural crime, of whom 82% said that the minister did not meet their expectations, 8% said that he did, and 9% had no opinion on the matter.
