Distel: "We Failed"

Distel's failure: "For 4 months we were unable to implement a policy, not even a little"

In response to the publications about the failure of her disbanding office, Minister Galit Distel said: "For four months, the professional staff of the Ministry of Information failed to realize the Minister's policy and vision and the mission for which it was created, not even a little bit"

Despair message. Distel-Atbaryan (Jonathan Sindel/Flash90)

The spokesperson, Galit Distel-Atbaryan, admits to the colossal failure of the ministry she heads. The embarrassing dismissal of the ministry's CEO yesterday reveals problematic conduct in what is supposed to be the forefront of Israeli public relations, yet for now, it is an ongoing fiasco.

In a publication by journalist Michael Shemesh on Channel 11, he describes how the office of Distel is not functioning, with the minister blaming her employees for failures and shifting the responsibility onto them. Eight months into the establishment of the government, not even a single achievement can be painted for the spokesperson. In the past, she claimed she doesn't even have a printer in her office, but since then, nothing has changed. Much remains the same.

Since taking office, she has already managed to replace three chief aides of the minister, the latest being Likud activist Lali Deri. Yesterday marked a peak event, the dismissal of the ministry's CEO, Dr. Gali Sembira, who was once a bright spot in the non-functioning ministry. According to reports from two weeks ago, Sembira wanted to resign; however, yesterday, Distel released a disrespectful statement indicating that she was the one who fired the CEO "due to dissatisfaction with her professional performance."

In response to Shemesh's publication regarding the dysfunction of the office, Distel issued a frustrated statement: "For four months, the professional team at the Ministry of Explanation has not been able to implement the policy, vision, and purpose set by the minister, not even to a small extent. The Minister of Explanation takes on the task that has been placed on her shoulders as a mission and a personal responsibility. The ministry is currently undergoing significant organizational changes for the benefit of the citizens of Israel."
