There has been an improvement in the condition of Aryeh Gottlieb, the gunshot victim who was evacuated yesterday from the south of Har Hevron. He is breathing on his own and fully conscious. Due to his severe injuries, additional surgeries are expected for him in the future. This was reported from Soroka Hospital where he is hospitalized. Gottlieb is a resident of Beit Hagai, married to the granddaughter of Rabbi Dov Lior, formerly the rabbi of Kiryat Arba and a prominent figure among the Zionist rabbis. His name for prayers is Aryeh Leib ben Ella.

Yesterday (Monday), a Bat-Sheva Nagari, HY"D, was killed in an attack that took place in the area of Har Hevron. During the attack, an Arab driver overtook the car in which she was traveling with Gutliv and fired a series of long bursts of gunfire towards them. More than twenty bullet impacts, apparently from an M-16, were found on the car.

Within hours of the attack, information was received about the two terrorists hiding in their father's house in southern Hebron. During the night, the IDF special forces accompanied by the Paratrooper patrol unit went to the house. The soldiers set up a perimeter and the special forces approached the house, calling for the two to come out. The two terrorists exited the house with their hands raised and the forces did not fire at them. They were interrogated by Shabak personnel on the scene and admitted their involvement in the attack. They also disclosed the location of the weapon used in the attack.

From the initial investigation, it appears that the soldiers in the position heard the gunfire but did not identify the attack, and therefore did not react. The attack took place several hundred meters away from the soldiers' pillbox.

In the Efrat Local Council, they stated: "Bat-Sheva (née Ravid), who grew up in Efrat, was a mother of three daughters and a cherished kindergarten teacher beloved by both children and parents." The head of the council, Oded Ravivi, also conveyed: "Our hearts are with the Ravid family. There are no words that can express how immense the pain is and how much the children will miss the nursery school teacher they loved so much. Alongside the council employees, we are all working to support the family and are preparing pedagogically to accompany the children."
