Order disturbances were recorded this morning (Sunday) in the Rimonim and Eshel prisons, after criminal prisoners began to riot in the cells.

Following the riots, special forces from the Israel Prison Service (IPS) were dispatched to disperse the inmates. "Prison staff and special unit operatives from the IPS entered the wings, extracting prisoners to disperse points of tension using gas," it was reported. It was further emphasized that "the IPS will not allow disturbances of order and discipline within its facilities."

Last Thursday, a detainee in Tel Aviv was reported to be in a state of unconsciousness in his cell, as detected by prison personnel. They initiated resuscitation efforts. Subsequently, an Intensive Care Unit was summoned to the facility and the detainee was transferred, without a pulse or breathing, to Wolfson Hospital, where his death was confirmed by the hospital physician.

According to the statement from the Israeli Prison Service, the prisoner was a single resident of the central region, born in 1996. He was arrested on charges of theft and was placed in custody at the beginning of the month, marking his second arrest. It was also mentioned that his family had been notified of the incident. The Israeli Prison Service stated that "as in any event of this nature, the circumstances will be investigated."
