Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Jordan, Naif bin Bandar A-Sudairy, submitted his letter of credentials yesterday (Saturday) as the Ambassador to the Palestinian Authority and Consul General in Jerusalem.

The appointment ceremony took place at the Palestinian Embassy in Oman in the presence of Abu Mazen's advisor. The official Palestinian news agency Wafa noted that A-Sudairy would serve as a "non-resident consul" on behalf of Saudi Arabia in Jerusalem.

According to the Arabic CNN news website, A-Sudairy will become the first ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Palestinian Authority.

Al-Haladi, advisor to Abu Mazen, conveyed: "We congratulate the Saudi ambassador and emphasize that this significant step will contribute to strengthening the strong relations that bind the two countries and peoples." He further added on behalf of the Chairman of the Palestinian Authority: "On behalf of Abu Mazen, he expressed the Authority's appreciation for the steadfast positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards the Palestinian people and its consistent support for the Palestinian issue."

Abu Mazen is scheduled to arrive in Egypt tomorrow for an official visit, during which he will participate in a trilateral summit with President A-Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan as part of "continuing cooperation and the consolidation of common stances."
