Herzog at Naval Base 13: "To keep the IDF united"

President Isaac Herzog visited Naval Base 13 with the Commander of the Israeli Navy. "In days when Israeli society is facing numerous challenges, to see the sparkle in the eyes of the soldiers I met, requires us to keep the IDF united," he said

President Yitzhak Herzog visited Naval Base 13 today (Wednesday). The visit was accompanied by the Commander of the Navy, Major General David Sa'ar Salame.

At the start of the visit, the President received a briefing from the commander of Naval Base 13, Lieutenant Colonel A, who presented to him the unit's operational activities, with an emphasis on its recent actions, as well as the future challenges it faces in various domains. Subsequently, the unit's tools and technological capabilities were showcased to the President.

As part of his visit, the President met with and held an open conversation with the fighters and commanders of the unit. "I was impressed by an elite and powerful unit, and even more than that – united," President Herzog told them. "To hear about the covert naval operations, pushing all boundaries, about its fighters, commanders, and reservists, arouses excitement and a sense of security and strength."

"In days when Israeli society faces numerous challenges, to see the spark in the eyes, in the determined faces of the courageous fighters I met today, compels us to keep the IDF united and to continue enabling them to engage in the security of the State of Israel," Herzog added.

The Commander of the Navy, Major General David Sa'ar Salame, said: "This is an important and significant visit, which made it possible to present the actions of the Navy and the Naval Base 13, most of which remains in the shadows."

"I thank the president of the country for the interpersonal meeting that took place here at the Atlit base together with the soldiers who directly expressed their feelings about the significant and unique service in the Navy."
