Russian authorities reported today (Wednesday) on a powerful explosion that occurred at an optical equipment plant in the city of Sergiyev Posad, located in the suburbs of Moscow. According to them, at least 31 people were injured in the explosion, with some of them being taken to hospitals for treatment, including 3 individuals in critical condition.

According to reports in the local media, the facility where the explosion occurred was used for the production of optical devices and electronic equipment and is considered one of the prominent suppliers for Russia's security systems. Among other things, the facility manufactured missile guidance systems, aircraft components, and thermal detection devices. In Moscow, it was stated that the explosion took place in a warehouse rented by a company called "Pyrotechnika," which reportedly contained "explosive equipment."

Following the explosion, the decision was made to evacuate the facility, and local law enforcement initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the event and the identification of the injured individuals. Despite speculations that circulated on social media, Russia claimed that the explosion was caused by a "human factor." The media reported that at this stage, there is no suspicion of Ukrainian involvement in the explosion.
