The Chief of Staff, Lt. Col. Herzi Halevi, arrived today at the Tel Hashomer Recruitment Base to accompany the new recruits to the Golani and Shiryon brigades. During the visit, the Chief of Staff met with the recruits, their families, and engaged in discussions with them about the significance of military service and its importance.

The visit was accompanied by the manpower department's Major General Yaniv Asor, Head of the Planning Division and Personnel Manager, Brigadier General Shai Tayeb, and the commander of the Meitav (Bakum) Col. Alon Mazliach.

From the words of the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Herzi Halevi: "We educate the IDF to be the people's army in the State of Israel and want to recruit as many people as possible, from as many sections of the people as possible - to bring them to the IDF to be together."

"There is a deep division in Israeli society today, a significant division. Many people, including the parents of some of you here, are struggling with this division. The IDF is the greatest opportunity for the State of Israel in this dispute. Because we know how to come together. We know how to be different together, we know how to see a common goal and all march towards that goal. To show our enemies, our families, and your younger siblings and friends, that the IDF, no matter what happens in Israeli society – first, it defends the country, second, it is an example and a model of unity, and that the State of Israel is strong together and knows how to face difficult challenges."

"Those who enter combat service are engaging in the most meaningful service possible. In the past week, we've had several operations in Judea and Samaria to thwart terrorism. IDF combat units enter highly complex areas, working to arrest terrorists, and target terror infrastructure. In the end, these actions truly save the lives of civilians."
