The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, who is currently on vacation in Greece, responded this morning (Sunday) to the lynching incident in Binyamin that occurred at the beginning of the Sabbath. "My policy is clear. Anyone who defends himself from stone-throwing should receive The Medal of Valor," Ben-Gvir conveyed.
"I expect the district chief of Judea and Samaria Uzi Levy to advance the investigation quickly and conduct a comprehensive investigation also of all the Arab rioters who threw stones and tried to murder Jews."
At the beginning of the Sabbath, an unusual confrontation was held between Israelis and Palestinians between the village of Burqa and the settlement Oz Zion in Binyamin, at the end of which a Palestinian was killed by fire from a settler who was seriously wounded in the head and is hospitalized.
Based on initial investigations by the IDF and security forces, according to Palestinian reports and on-site testimonies, the confrontation began with the arrival of Israeli citizens with their sheep to graze near the village of Burqa, and Palestinians from the village approached to drive them away. Initially, there was a verbal confrontation, which escalated into stone-throwing by both sides, and then the Palestinians shot fireworks. In response, Israeli civilians fired towards the Palestinians. During the clash, one Palestinian was killed as a result of the shooting, and four more Palestinians were injured, in addition to a Palestinian vehicle that was found burnt.
The Israelis claim: we were saved from being lynched
According to the Israeli citizens there, a confrontation developed during a mass riot involving dozens of Palestinians, who attacked Jewish shepherds. A number of civilians were injured as a result of stone throwing and felt that their lives were threatened.
The seriously injured man was taken to Shaarei Zedek hospital, from where he said: "I call on the General Security Services and the police to find the Arab rioters this evening, and put them behind bars. It was an attempted murder of a group of Jews, a real lynching."
Following the incident, it was decided to declare a closed military area in the area of friction and deploy the security forces in accordance with the assessment of the situation.
The Israel Police announced that it is investigating the circumstances of the incident, in cooperation with the General Security Services.
