Rabbi Bareli: "Oz Zion Needs to be Strengthened"

Rabbi of Beit El to the detainees' friends: 'This place needs to be strengthened'

The rabbi of the settlement Beit El arrived at Givat Oz Zion, and strengthened the friends of the Jewish shepherd who was attacked by Arab rioters and was suspected of killing one of the rioters: "In every place in the Land of Israel, a Jewish person needs to defend themselves. Whoever comes to kill you, you must kill or be killed"

After the Shabbat events, Rabbi Ariel Bareli, the rabbi of the settlement of Beit El, arrived last night (Saturday) at Givat Oz Zion and strengthened the residents with his words.

Givat Oz Zion is the settlement where the shepherd who was arrested resides. He was detained after shooting one of the Arab rioters who attacked him during Shabbat near the village of Burqa, where the attackers reside.

Rabbi Bareli said: "A terrorist came, and unfortunately, injured people. God willing, they will have a complete recovery. We cannot take such an event and twist it. Waiting for him to finish the surgery and arresting him for murder or any such thing is not right and not appropriate."

"There can be no calls to evacuate"

Additionally, the rabbi called on public leaders to support and strengthen the residents of Givat Oz Zion in the face of various calls to evacuate the place: "In this important place, there cannot be calls for evacuation. Just because a terrorist came, we should evacuate? On the contrary, we should strengthen it even more, bring more families."

"We expect our leaders to be strong and tell the truth in the media. The truth is that this is a terrorist. It is an event of serious injury - a Jew managed to defend himself. In every place in Israel, a Jew needs to defend himself. When a terrorist comes to kill you, you must act before he does. We need to strengthen this place; there must be a clear message - we turn to anyone who has the ability among our public leaders, and we believe that they identify with this idea, to help us withstand the media pressure and ensure that this place remains."
