Against the backdrop of the discussion on amending the camera law, the wife of the Prime Minister, Mrs. Sara Netanyahu, held a meeting last night (Wednesday) with representatives of the "Matteh HaMa'avak Lema'an HaYeladim" association, who work to prevent the phenomenon of violence against children in kindergartens.
During the meeting, the mothers (Jenny, Olga, and Asra'a) shared their personal and painful stories of the abuse their children experienced and how they have been coping with the consequences to this day. The discussion focused on the necessary steps to prevent this serious phenomenon.
Mrs. Netanyahu, who listened to their difficult stories, responded: "The vast majority of the women in the educational staff of kindergartens are amazing and devoted individuals who invest in our children's education, but we must address the minority that endangers and harms everyone."
Cameras - a deterrent against abuse of the helpless
Sara Netanyahu: "We are embarking on a long journey to prevent abuse in children's kindergartens from ages 0 to 6. The importance of cameras lies in being live witnesses and a deterrent factor. Through them, we can avoid traumatic investigations of a child who may not always be able to express the incident. Children are vulnerable, and they don't always have the verbal abilities to express themselves, or they may not always be believed. We need evidence, and cameras are the first and essential tool."
Furthermore, the Prime Minister's wife added: "A support system is also needed for the close environment of the victims of abuse. In such cases of violence, the circles of impact are significant. It affects their livelihood, home, and family, and often the overall suffering goes unnoticed and untreated."
Alona Daniel, the director of the "Matteh HaMa'avak" association, stated: "Amending the Camera Law is an extremely important step in preventing the phenomenon of violence, and together with tens of thousands of parents, we applaud and thank her for her willingness to assist us in achieving this goal."
