Israeli Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, and Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ronen Levi (Maoz), met today (Sunday) with Dan Shapiro, the senior adviser to the American Secretary of State for regional integration. The meeting was focused on the topic of the Abraham Accords, exploring the potential with Saudi Arabia, and promoting the advancement of the Negev Forum.

According to the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the three (officials) discussed possibilities for deepening relations with existing partners in the circle of peace, as well as expanding the circle of normalization with significant additional partners in the Middle East and beyond. Additionally, the issue of promoting the convening of the Negev Forum in Morocco in the coming months was raised.

"The signing of the Abraham Accords, led by the United States, was the most significant development for the region in the past twenty years," said Cohen at the end of the meeting. "The United States and the Biden administration are now the main factor for further expanding and deepening relations with existing partners and with new partners like Saudi Arabia."

According to him, "In my conversation with Special Envoy Shapiro, we agreed to work closely and in coordination to preserve the good relations with existing partners in the agreements and to expand the circle of peace and normalization with new partners in the Middle East and beyond."
