Controversial Irish music legend Sinéad O'Connor has passed away at the age of 56, about a year and a half after the death of her son.

According to reports in Irish networks, O'Connor passed away after a prolonged struggle with "mental health issues."

The singer gained international fame in the 1990s after covering the song of musician Prince, which became a global hit.

O'Connor was known as an eccentric woman; she changed her name to Shuhada' Sadaqat in 2018 when she converted to Islam and spent most of her time in Ireland and London.

According to her friends and family, O'Connor was found lifeless at her home. Her family requested that her privacy be respected in her passing, stating that the circumstances of her death are not relevant to who she was.
