Yesterday (Wednesday), MK Orna Barbiei officially announced that she will run for mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo, in the local elections to be held at the end of October, and now it becomes clear when she will finish her term in the Knesset.

The knitters learned that Barbiei will resign from her position as a member of the Knesset at the end of July, with the end of the summer conference.

As I recall, Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid conditioned the resignation of his Knesset members who wish to run in the local elections, and after Barbiei's decision to do so, she will soon have to vacate her seat in the Knesset.

The person who will serve in the Yesh Atid faction in her place will be Yaron Levy, 26th on the list, who currently holds the position of deputy mayor of Bat Yam.

Barbiei: I call on Huldai not to compete

As mentioned, Knesset member and former minister Orna Barbiei announced last night (Wednesday) her candidacy for mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo. In the statement she carried Yakness

Had with opposition leader Yair Lapid Barbibai announced that from now on she intends to dedicate herself to running in the mayoral elections to be held this October.

"The time has come to return Tel Aviv-Jaffa to its residents. To maintain it as a free and diverse city, to develop it as an economic and cultural center and to return the fruits of the investment to the residents," said Barbiei. "The city should be more happy, orderly and open to its residents. In recent years, we have witnessed a loss of control in the management of many projects and the residents are exhausted from trying to maintain a safe and comfortable lifestyle. For this purpose, leadership and experience in managing large systems is required, which I bring."

She also called on the incumbent mayor Ron Huldai not to run again in the upcoming elections. According to her, "Ron Huldai is a good mayor who has contributed a lot. I believe that after 25 years in office, Ron, who loves the city, will show responsibility and not run. Precisely at this important time, his job is to make sure that Tel Aviv-Jaffa passes into the right hands."
