The ruling center-left party SPD appears to have fended off a serious challenge from the far-right AfD party in the Brandenburg elections in Germany, barely edging it out 32-29, according to France24.
This will give Scholz's embattled center-left coalition some breathing space, even as it reels from tanking approval ratings and remains vulnerable to attacks regarding immigration and especially illegal immigration from possible radical Islamist terrorists.
However, another party - the BSW, has won 12% of the vote and may end up being kingmaker in Bandenburg, creating real headaches for moderate voters and parties as the BSW is "left-conservative" and agrees with AfD on the importance of limiting immigration.
