Senator John Thune (R-SD) has narrowly won the contest to become Senate Majority Leader, defeating John Cornyn (R-TX) and Rick Scott (R-FL).

Despite a noisy and energetic campaign on social media and especially on X, Scott ultimately came in third, receiving just 13 votes in the first round of voting. Thune and Cornyn then competed with one another in the second round, with Thune winning narrowly 29-24.
