As the Paris Olympics approach, Israeli athletes face what might be their most intimidating challenge yet, as noted by cyclist Itamar Einhorn.

His partner’s tragic loss during the 2001 Sbarro terror attack adds a layer of personal concern to his apprehensions. “I hope those against us will see we’re only trying to live a normal life and we’re not the monsters they make us out to be,” Einhorn, 26, explained to the Jewish Chronicle.

The atmosphere of hostility has intensified even before the Games have officially started. Israeli Olympians have already faced death threats, and a hard-left French politician has publicly stated that Israeli athletes are not welcome.

In response to these security concerns, Israel is reportedly preparing an extensive security operation, including the deployment of armed Shin Bet agents.

Despite the escalating tension, Einhorn displays a resilient attitude: “Honestly, if it’s just some protest on the side of the road, I won’t give it much attention and will continue riding.”
