The US Army has intensified its operations against Houthi vessels in the Red Sea, with Central Command (CENTCOM) announcing on Sunday that four Iranian-backed uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) were successfully destroyed in the past 24 hours.

CENTCOM's statement on X explained that the USVs were deemed an imminent threat to both U.S. and coalition forces as well as merchant vessels in the region.

This action was part of a broader effort to ensure freedom of navigation and enhance security in international waters. The Iranian-backed Houthis have escalated their attacks following the onset of the Gaza war, targeting both southern Israel with drones and commercial ships in the Red Sea.

In response, the US has formed a coalition of over 20 nations to protect commercial traffic from Houthi threats.
