The struggle against naval terror continues: the American government is expected to impose economic sanctions against senior leaders of the Iran-backed Houthi rebel army, according to a report by Bloomberg. Per the report, Britain is also expected to join the US and impose additional sanctions on members of the organization in Yemen.

Sources in the American Treasury Department stated that these sanctions would be imposed on at least four Houthi leaders, and would include the freezing of assets and the barring of their entry into the country. The sanctions would include the head of the Houthi naval force and their defense minister.

Despite these sanctions, the Houthis clarified that they have no intention to stop their attacks against shipping in the Red Sea. Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi gave a statement where he claimed that the rebel forces carried out dozens of attacks since the war in Gaza began, making use of over 200 drones and 50 missiles.

“Our battle against ships affiliated with Israel continues. We will act until the food and medicines reach all residents of Gaza and the crimes of Israel cease,” he said. “We recommend the states of Europe avoid American involvement in their governments and exploitation of their money. The consequences of aggression will be negative for enemies in terms of costs, tensions, expansion of the conflict, and the threat to naval navigation.”
