After the resignation of the president of the University of Pennsylvania Liz Magill, the academic institution announced the appointment of Julie Platt - the chairman of the Jewish Federations of North America - as acting president.

In a statement issued by the Jewish Federations of North America, they announced Platt's appointment as interim chairman of the University of Pennsylvania, following the resignation of University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill and Chairman of the University's Board of Trustees Scott Bock.

Platt, who served in recent months as the vice chairman of the university's board of directors, worked hard to eradicate the scourge of anti-Semitism from the campus, but according to her: "Unfortunately, we did not make the progress we wanted and hoped to achieve on this issue. I believe that given the opportunity to choose between good and bad, between right and wrong, the three university presidents who testified in the United States House of Representatives failed. The change of leadership at the university was therefore necessary and appropriate."

Julie Platt also said: "As the chairman of the Jewish Federations of North America, we are leading the largest mobilization in our history in support of Israel's right to protect its citizens and against the rise of anti-Semitism in North America. We recently held the largest Jewish rally in American history with over 300,000 participants. We will continue this struggle with all the necessary force."
