At least 4 people were killed and dozens more injured in a terrorist attack that occurred today (Sunday) at a school in the city of Marawi in the southern Philippines, considered a center of the Muslim community in the state. According to local reports, a bomb blew up in a high school belonging to Mindanao State University during a Catholic Mass of the Christian minority there.

The local police said that at least 50 people were injured in the attack, most of whom were sent to hospitals around the city for treatment. Large numbers of soldiers are now searching for the perpetrators, though there are no reports yet of arrests.

Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. condemned the attack and said that he instructed the police to maintain public security in the city. The local police chief agreed that this was unquestionably a terrorist attack.
