Not Sure If This Matters to Hezbollah

Defense Minister Israel Katz: If the ceasefire collapses, the Lebanese state will be a target

In a belligerent statement following the Hezbollah attack on Mount Dov yesterday, Katz demanded that the Lebanese Army seriously enforce the ceasefire and demilitarize south Lebanon - or there would be consequences.

Following the Hezbollah attack yesterday (Monday) and Israel's retaliatory strikes, Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a clear warning to the state of Lebanon about what would happen if the ceasefire violations continue.

Katz said that "we responded powerfully...and we will not allow Hezbollah to return to the old methods that were like the tent that was set up and not attacked...what was will no longer be."

He then warned that Israel is sending "a message to the Lebanese government which needs to make a decision to authorize the Lebanese government to enforce their part" of the ceasefire, "distancing Hezbollah away from the Litani and dismantling all the infrastructures" under American supervision.

Katz said that if Lebanon does not do this then, "if we separated between the state of Lebanon and between all of Beirut and the Dahiyeh which suffered very serious blows - this will no longer be" the case.
