US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke today (Sunday) with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan regarding the recent escalation in Syria and the importance of achieving a ceasefire in Gaza.

The two discussed the importance of protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Aleppo and other areas, especially given the reported Turkish backing for the anti-Assad forces currently on the offensive.

They also discussed the importance of protecting civilians, ensuring aid, and bringing the war in Gaza to an end in a way that ensured the release of the hostages.

No mention was made in the statement regarding Turkey's current trade embargo against Israel or its support for South Africa's "genocide" suit against Israel in the Hague.
